Elizabeth Lim is an experienced and committed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) strategist and practitioner. She is a culturally curious leader who quicky understands organization and client needs. She has over twenty years of experience in government, banking, education, not-for-profit and retail – many of these years spent working directly in diversity and inclusion, race relations, and Employment Equity focused roles. Being a first-generation settler of Chinese-Malaysian and Norwegian heritage, she has first-hand experience with the challenges of non-inclusive workplaces and has leveraged this experience into strong advocacy in the workplace.
The rise of anti-Asian racism and hate since the onset of the pandemic has compelled her to reflect on her own experiences of inequality and re-examine the common biases and stereotypes that serve to marginalize people with diverse identities. Elizabeth is writing the next chapter of her story with a renewed purpose and a determination to use her voice and position to progress meaningful change for all equity-deserving communities.
Elizabeth holds an MBA with a specialization in Entrepreneurship from the University of Victoria, a B.Ed. from the University of Windsor, and an Honors B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto, Trinity College. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) and has achieved her Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) designation with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion. Elizabeth has mentored newcomers to Canada through ACCES Employment and Jumpstart Refugee Talent, and is a past Loan Review Committee Member with RISE, an organization dedicated to empowering people with mental health and addiction challenges through entrepreneurship. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and dabbles in writing and photography.
